In this level of the Resource Centre you will find many articles which is all about inspiring, motivating, encouraging you while sharing what I call gentle reminders about the things that truly matter. You will read about what inspires and motivates me. I share my lessons as I learn them, in the hope that on some days, they will also work for you.
When I write, I tend to pour out my soul to you and on most days, I boldly and unashamedly share my strengths, but also my vulnerabilities. In doing this, I grow and improve on my weaknesses and reaffirm my strengths tremendously. I feel like I am a better person in so many ways.
On my not so good days, I read through some of the resources here and I have found reasons to smile. Some days, when I need inspiration and motivation as well as strength to go on, I have found them here.
But, I need you to understand that on some days, it just doesn’t work. Words are not enough. There have been days when no matter what I read, no matter what anyone says, nothing seemed to work. Nothing makes sense.
There have been days when I found myself with that sinking feeling of emptiness and forlornness. I have despaired, and cried. I have fallen, a thousand times. And words made absolutely no sense. I felt like screaming at the ones who tried to encourage me to shut up. I wanted to tell them that they had no idea what I was going through.
The truth is that words are always just that, words.
Most times, they are powerful and uplifting, setting us on a course of action or just simply helping us to focus on the positive. Helping us to find the strength and motivation or inspiration to change our lives, to rewrite our stories.
For years, people have called me a “motivational/inspirational writer and speaker”. It is not a tag I particularly like.
On the one hand, it is great to see people get motivated and inspired and fired up after reading something I wrote or after hearing me speak, but on the other hand, I’m always a little cautious about that title.
You see, I am interested in positive and transformational change that would help you identify and maximise your highest potentials, and I know there’s a lot more to that than a few lines or sixty-minute rah-rah speech.
So, I’m really sorry to break it to you, but motivation and inspiration is not enough because it is ephemeral in nature as it can never last.
The truth is that all the motivation in the world means nothing without the trained and determined mind to see something through to the end.
You need discipline.
You need hard work.
You need perseverance.
You need grit.
You need to be informed and trained enough to consistently see your goals to manifestation.
It is true that you need inspiration and motivation to start. You need to stay inspired and motivated to keep at it. But what will give you the desired result is not motivation nor merely the words you read here.
Your result lies in your hands and in the actions you take.
And one of the things I always try to make clear is that there is joy in taking responsibility for the choices we make in life and the corresponding actions to ensure that we get the results that we truly desire.
When we read or hear something that resonates with us, the universe and all the forces in it will only align with us if we take the required actions. This is not something anyone else can do for us.
So, it will be safe to say that one of the most important reasons why mere words from me will never be enough is that God and life wants to allow you to experience that joy for yourself. The joy that comes from seeing the results of positive actions.
