It was an elm-bedded town.
A dark and solitary night.
All around was darkness.
I could not see, not even myself.

It was a bleak and dreary place.
An arid and dry sight.

Then, I saw the stars he gave me.
The sky lit up and heaven smiled on me.
My face has since broadened into a smile,
and my wrinkles are gone.

It is still dark.
but the sky is brightened,

And when the night is gone, and it’s the breaking of dawn,
I’ll still have the memory of the beautiful stars and the joys they brought.
