To Love. On Valentine's Day

To Love. On Valentine’s Day

Today, they say, is Valentine’s day. The day for lovers. The day to proclaim and show love.

To be honest, I have never been one to pay much attention to 14th February, and just like most things in my life, that is my Mum’s fault. You see, we celebrated love everyday, we proclaimed, professed and showed it everyday. We didn’t wait till 14th February. As a rule, Love has been present every single second of my life, and it hasn’t been so bad.

I learnt to love Love. To love God and His Word. To love myself. To love my family and my friends, and sometimes, even strangers. And these have made it easier for me to love the world I have been given as well as my place and purpose in it.

And, love finds me everyday.

Love finds me and raises me everyday.

Love helps me and assists me.

Love teaches my heart to be.

Love forgives me and I forgive her.

Love heals me and covers me.

Love gives me and receives from me.

Love has disappointed me sometimes and has hurt me sometimes.

Love has pierced my heart one time too many and she has broken it into a few pieces.

She sometimes made my eyes teary, and she mostly filled me with glee.

She has kept me up at night and she has filled my sleep with the most beautiful of dreams.

We have had both highs and lows. We have argued and disagreed, but we have always found our way back to each other.

You see my romance with love goes way back. Love and I have been together for a long time and it is truly proving to be a lifetime thing. I don’t want to let go and Love has told me that she is not giving up on me.

You see, love is not something I feel. Rather, it is something I am. It is something I live. It is a way of life for me. I am in love with Love and my heart is alive, and thankful and blessed.

Love has been patient and she has been kind.

She is not rude or proud. She does not envy. She does not boast.

She is not self seeking or selfish.

She does not dishonour others.

She is not easily angered and she keeps no record of wrong.

She does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

She always protects. She always trusts. And she always hopes.

Love has held my hands and seen me through so many things. And I have held her hands and walked into so many victories and so much joy.

Today, just like every day, I celebrate Love. And I celebrate you. But, you must know that one day will never be enough to show or tell you how much I love you.

I celebrate Love, not just because today is Valentine’s Day, but because I love Love, today and everyday.

Happy Valentine’s Day, Love.

Yours truly,

MyRubyHeels.

P.S: And, if you’re reading this, no matter how today goes for you, please find love and keep it in your heart. No matter who is watching or listening. Love Love and she will find you.
